The luscious Nevada Green Turquoise contrasts with the Epidote Coins and Cushions, Swarovski Crystals, and Sterling Silver Elements. The Opalized Ironwood Accent Beads are bored out and filled with Abalone Shell, giving the same amazing green hue as the gemstones. A handmade Sterling Silver Flowered Toggle Clasp by Steve and Juana Jelen of Pacific Silverworks completes this lovely necklace. Matching Green Turquoise and Gaspeite Earrings are included.
Other information – Nevada Green turquoise comes in shades from lime to a rich dark green. The most famous mines are Royston, Blue Gem, Orvil Jack, and Carico Lake Turquoise Mines. Today green turquoise is rare due to the slow down in Turquoise mining in Nevada. Turquoise was used by the Aztecs, Egyptians, and in all early cultures. Opalized Wood is fossilized wood that has had its organic matter replaced by agatized opal slowly over a long span of time. The ancient trees were covered with mineral-rich water, and then transformed into “stone”. Sources of Opal are India, Madagascar, Mongolia, and Australia. It is said to be a stone of business success and promotes longevity, healing, and protection. Epidote’s name is derived from the Greek word meaning “addition”. It was first found and described by Thomas Allan in 1808. It is found in east Greenland, Sweden, Austria, Italy and Baja Mexico. Epidote is a stone of increase. It cleanses repressed emotions. The Latin cross (Western Cross) is a geometrical figure consisting of two lines or bars perpendicular to each other. The cross is one of the most ancient human symbols and is used in Christianity. The Latin Cross has an extended descending arm which symbolizes the cross of Christ’s crucifixion.
